These influenced human biological adaptations.<\/p><h3><strong>The Gluteus Maximus as an Example<\/strong>.<\/h3><p>For example, the gluteus maximus is a muscle that developed relatively recently in human evolutionary history. What was the stimulus that led to its development?<\/p><p>When thinking about the development of the gluteus maximus, it is most likely that it evolved as a result of environmental pressure that required the human body to move in a specific way to ensure survival.<\/p><p>Anthropological evidence suggests that standing, walking, running, and throwing were key movements for human survival. The gluteus maximus is primarily involved in these movements.<\/p><p>The development of the gluteus maximus indicates that muscles evolved to perform integrated movements such as running and throwing.<\/p><h3>Secondly,\u00a0<strong>How Does the Human Body Work?<\/strong><\/h3><p>In the article on myofascial chains, extensive reference is made to how the human body functions.<\/p><p>Based on the description and functionality of the myofascial chains, which are a key component in the body\u2019s operation, we understand the need for a holistic approach in understanding movement. Additionally, most trainers do not seem truly interested in documenting and showcasing the results achieved through their approaches (other than controlled studies).<\/p><p>When results are presented, they are often in relation to a very limited set of parameters, such as increased muscle mass, fat loss, or improvement in a single lifting exercise.\u00a0<strong>The questions we ask are:<\/strong><\/p><ol><li>Do these improvements come at the expense of another aspect of health? The specialization with which your muscles contract in relation to other muscles determines the quality of your movement.<\/p><p>This is the difference between a high-level athlete and someone suffering from chronic pain with restricted movement.<\/p><p>The more isolated the muscle contraction in a training situation, the less effective that movement will be for anything else you do.<\/p><p>Without delving further into theories on why one approach may be better than another, let\u2019s simply look at the results from a more integrated approach to training.<\/p><p>On our results page, you will find people of all ages and ability levels. You will see people who have changed the way they walk, reversed their chronic pain, and built muscle mass. You will see visible improvements in posture and testimonies about the mental benefits of training in a more integrated way. I had had a knee injury as a teenage when I was playing ice hockey and more recently some lower back issues  although then I didn\u2019t realise what was causing the issues. At first, I didn\u2019t realise how lucky I was or how limited knowledge I had about the Functional Patterns approach. Despite swimming regularly, I had very little body strength and many of Nikoletta\u2019s early exercises were aimed at my problems. After just a few weeks, I realised that my body was changing and becoming stronger and my posture was improving (I had not realised just how bad it was!). During lockdown, we continue online training  but in the winter and spring of 2022, when I had a fellowship in U.S, it was not possible for me to keep training together. In June of 2022, Nikoletta and I started working again. By September of 2022, I was swimming as fast as I had fifteen years before! Nikoletta and I have been particularly working on my posture (as a scholar, I sit too much at a computer!) The improvement in my posture since May 2023 has been really noticeable! I also feel generally stronger, without any pain on the knee or lower back and I am  regularly swimming faster.
